Tom Eddy 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
544 cases produced (that’s six pack cases)
“I described "Excellent" wines as those that just blow you away. Their flavors just make you yearn for more. They last forever in your mouth. These wines make an impression that will not forget. These are the wines you brag about. So in Tom Eddy’s 2002 Napa Cab, you have all those qualities. This very dark purple wine opens with a very inviting spicy blackberry bouquet with hints of licorice and blueberry. On the palate, this wine is ultra smooth, quite elegant, and has delicious black cherry flavors that make you yearn for a second glass or bottle. There are hints of spicy blackberry notes as well. The finish of this wine remains elegant and its fine tannins linger for a tremendously long time. This is a very special wine for a special meal. Enjoy it with filet mignon. Cheers" -

Karl Lawrence 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
1850 cases produced
As an article in the LA times said of this Karl Lawrence "if you can't remember what a good Cabernet tastes like, a bottle of Karl Lawrence Cellars Cab from Napa will remind you. The winery was founded in 1991, but its wine sells out quickly, so it has remained a kind of underground success."
Karl Lawrence is where Mike's “night job” became a passion project of serious intent. Making Cabernet from meticulous sources: Gary Morisoli in Rutherford, Herb Lamb of Howell Mountain, Beckstoffer To-Kalon and Dr. Crane; he has established the pedigree of this perennial cult favourite. The terrific 2005 exhibits a black/purple colour, fabulous sweetness and ripeness of fruit. Full bodied with richness and a stunning finish. Mike makes good, ripe Cali Cab that is concentrated and textural yet marked with fine tannins and "vinous flavours that informs of the fruit." This vinous flavour gives a sense of place to the wine, that "terrior element" that goes missing when the fruit is over ripe or raisiny, and masked by too much toasty new wood. Mike Trujillo is making honest to goodness Cab where the price, like the wine, isn't overblown when you are playing in Napa Cab country!
